Lately, I've been in a bit of a rut and been looking for something to help me bounce back. There's something positively uplifting about the many works of John Hughes, and although he didn't direct this one, you can see his fingerprints are all over it. Earlier this month, my brain must have become addled as I became nostalgic for revisiting the Saw movies. I'm not sure why I felt this way as arguably none (but maybe the first film) are all that good. When I heard about this film coming out, I had a bit of hope for the franchise as I figured Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson would turn the page in a series more regarded as "torture porn" than actually quality horror. I don't see too many superhero movies these days. Disney/Marvel has essentially run that entire sub-genre into the ground and Zack Snyder's take on DC Comics never particularly interested me. With that said, there's something uniquely special about Batman that made me willing to break my isolation from caped vigilantes and give this latest iteration of Bob Kane's and Bill Finger's creation a try. Recently, I've found myself getting back into Law & Order since the original series has started up again. Seeing Amazon Video recommend this to me enticed me with the thought of fairly generic whodunit murder mystery akin to Dick Wolf's creation that I am remiss to say entrapped me into trying 88 Minutes back in the day. I've always been a fan of gothic horror, but since I started playing Hunt: Showdown again, I practically salivated at the thought of seeing a movie like that in theaters. Everyone enjoys a good murder mystery (unless you happen to be the victim), and so I was pretty interested to see this when I initially saw the trailers. Having no knowledge of Agatha Christie's works (I know, I'm ashamed), I had no idea that this was a sequel to 2017's Murder on the Orient Express .
