When I first started doing reviews, I had hoped to do more than a few movie reviews. The whole coronavirus pandemic has kind of screwed the pooch on that for a while, however some of the movies Hollywood has been holding out on have started to trickle in. It'd been a while since I'd seen a new crime thriller so my ears perked up when I heard about this one, however my gut plummeted into my stomach when I heard the director was David Ayer. Ayer might've blown my mind with the likes of Training Day and U-571 (he wrote the screenplay for that one), but I'll never forgive him for some of his more recent entries like Suicide Squad . I have been wanting to review this game for some time, however this game has always been a bit of a quandary for me. I find the premise of this game to be fascinating, however it took me three times to actually complete it. I would equate this game to an intriguing book left on a coffee table in which I frequently kept going back to pick at. Like my review of Resident Evil , the version of this game that I played is also a "director's cut." As I mentioned in my review of the first season, I had originally tried Magic City before but given up after finishing season one. I felt that the show squandered its setting and failed to weave together its many plot points into a cohesive story. I know I may have come off as overly critical on that review, however I don't believe that Magic City was a bad show, just that it simply failed to live up to its potential. I am happy to say that I did not repeat the same mistake I made last time and decided to give season two a go. Like the first season, I viewed this via Blu-Ray. There's a very fine line between hot garbage and a movie that's so bad that it's good. There's apparently an entire genre of films that are dedicated to making movies of this subset, but I never really got into them as they were designed to be bad. The best ones of the trash pile are undeniably the movies that were made under the premise that they're legitimate cinema that deserve to be regarded on the same levels as classics like Lord of the Rings or Silence of the Lambs . After finishing The Last of Us Part 2 (check out my review here ), I found myself feeling nostalgic for something more light-hearted while still retaining that Naughty Dog magic. With that being said, I figured I'd go back and start the Uncharted series from the beginning and make my way through the series. I swear it's not intentional, but I find myself reviewing my third television show set in the beautiful city of Miami. I'd seen the first season of this show once before, but never got around to seeing season two. A co-worker gave me her copies of the show on Blu-Ray and I could hardly deny that I was eager to revisit the wonderful world of Miami circa 1959. My play-through of The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II began to piss me off so much that I needed something get my mind off of it and relax me. Somehow, a game about being trapped in a zombie-infested mansion was more soothing than a JRPG about giant robots. Since I finished Resident Evil 0 , I decided to stick with the chronological line of events and go back to the very first entry in the Resident Evil franchise.
