Resident Evil Village (PS4) - Video Game Review

Image
Despite the fact that we get yearly installments of Resident Evil these days, it really feels like it's been quite a while since the franchise's main story progressed since Resident Evil 7 . I'm glad Capcom is looking forward just as much as they're looking back with their REmake games. I think this game perfectly captures both of those perspectives as it tries to embrace both the dread of Resident Evil 7 , as well as the action of Resident Evil 4 . With all that said, I have some thoughts. 1 Where You Can Find It:  I played this one on PlayStation 4, however it's also available for PS5, PC/Steam, XB1, XSX, and Stadia. Based on what I've heard, this game was originally made for modern-generation consoles/PC, so I'd recommend using those platforms for optimal performance if you want the best quality. General Informati on Resident Evil Village (or Resident Evil 8) is a first-person survival horror game that was developed and published by Capcom. It was first

Update

Dear Readers, I want to thank you all for your continued support and viewership. It means a lot to me when I get feedback from you guys and know you're enjoying my little blog's content as much as I'm enjoying writing it. Back in March , I had given some updates as to the state of the blog and wanted to post a new update as there's been some developments. As you've probably noticed, the blog is moving a bit slower than it was during the winter. This is intentional as I am still working on my latest book. I'm very pleased to say that it is still coming along fairly nicely. Based on my experience, writing a novel is a marathon and not a sprint (especially when you have a day-job). With that being said, I've made a lot of progress.  I'm over 80 pages into the first draft, which is fairly long for me as I believe my first book, Run & Hide , was only around 70-something. Of course, I'm not all that focused on length as I'm writing until I'm ha

Darkly Dreaming Dexter - Book Review

I recall, back in 2006, I was on a bit of a slasher binge-streak when I was reading Bret Easton Ellis' American Psycho . I had heard about a show coming out that was about a serial killer in Miami who eerily reminded me of Ted Bundy and was excited to see what it was all about. It would be a few years before I would see the show, but I remember desperately wanting to get my grubby mitts on this book. It took me a while, but I finally got to see what the fuss was all about. When I told people I was reading this, I was surprised by the fact that so many people didn't realize this series first started out as books. It's fairly rare when a person finds a story that is better told on film or TV in comparison to its written origins, but I think this one takes the cake. Looking back, it's hard to believe this is what started an entire television series and franchise. * General Information Darkly Dreaming Dexter is a mystery novel published in July 2004 and written by Jeff Lind

New York, New York - Dear America

Image
Dear America, It was around the time that Eric Carmen's "Hungry Eyes" began to blare from my radio that I saw that sleek gem on the horizon. I've been all over this planet, and yet I have yet to find anything that beats the Big Apple. I know I've made it when I see the One World Trade Center gleaming in the sun like a shining middle finger to the bastards who thought they could knock you down. The thing I learned about New York City during my first visit (before I even made it through the Lincoln Tunnel) was that no one can keep New York down and I'm proud to say that this includes pandemics too. One of the things I love most about New York is that there's a story on every street corner. Everyone is on the move, completing a new chapter, and keeping the hustle alive. Over there is a wiseguy munching on antipasto in Little Italy; across the way in Chinatown a socialite argues on the phone about what college her kid is going to; in Chelsea a couple of firefi

Those Treasured Moments - Dear America

Dear America, As the weather gets nicer, I've been taking the time to literally stop and smell the roses (or at least some flower-equivalent of that). It's not all it's cracked up to be, honestly, as I think those vile plants are trying to kill me as allergy season has threatened to put me in an early grave. With that being said, it's given me something to think on as I hit the sun-washed streets. Regardless of how dark or bad things can get in a person's life, I think everyone has those moments where the stars align and everything is just damn-near perfect for a split-second. These moments don't need to be climactic, and I'd wager they rarely are. It's those moments where everything's at peace and it all clicks into place. It's at those times that I try to hold on with both hands and remember it all, because (believe me) they go quick and something in the back of my mind tells me you only get so many. * "Now, wait a minute, I'd like to

The Quiet Bringer - Tales from the Milkwood Lounge

The Quiet Bringer             Clyde Baker was annoyed for what seemed to be the umpteenth time since he’d taken the position of senior mountain guide at Sutherland Heights Resort. He was getting on in years and had figured taking the position would be a good way to supplement his income since retiring from Yellowstone as a park ranger. Ever since he had that hare-brained idea he’d been hiking up and down Francis Sutherland’s corporate-owned wildlands on the outskirts of his hotel. Francis had been yammering on about the “grand opening” of his place for weeks and it looked like he was finally going to do it. Of course, the son of a bitch wanted his hunting grounds to be in pristine order, which meant Clyde had to inspect every nook and cranny of the grounds for anything some spoiled punk might trip over during their stay.           Clyde thought he was finally done with his inspection so he felt he might celebrate with a little Jack Daniels he had squared away at the utility sha

Resident Evil 4 (PS2/PS4) - Video Game Review

As we approach the release of Resident Evil 8 (aka Resident Evil Village), I thought I'd continue my way through the Resident Evil series and review the undisputed rock star of the entire series.  I've probably beaten this one four or five times at this point. To spice things up, I finally tried this on Professional Difficulty for this review, but I'll keep my thoughts restricted to the regular version of the game. I forgot how much fun learning Spanish can be when you're trapped in a village filled with homicidal maniacs! 1 Where You Can Find It:  I played this on PlayStation 4 as a remastered port, but I have also played the PS2 and PS3 versions. It is also available on nearly every modern platform to include PC via Steam, Nintendo GameCube, Mobile (IOS/Android), Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Wii. Apparently the Nintendo Wii version is very unique, so if you're a die-hard fan and still have your old station, I'd recommend it for a change of pace. G
